Enjoy and Tel Hai.
Betar is a nationalist Zionist youth movement founded in 1923 by Ze’ev Jabotinsky. The acronym of Betar stands for Brit Yosef Trumpeldor (the Covenant of Joseph Trumpeldor) and is set to remember his legacy. Trumpeldor was a Jewish soldier who fell in the Battle of Tel Hai. His emblemizing quote is, “Never mind, it is good to die for one’s country.”
Many of Israel’s leaders, past and present, are former Betar members including Menachem Begin, Yitzhak Shamir, Former Defense Minister Moshe Arens, and the current Israeli Ambassador to the United States, Salai Meridor. Betar USA is run from Cleveland, Ohio and aims to carry on the legacy of nationalistic Zionism to future generations.
